Privacy Policy
Dreams is a dream journal. What you write in it is yours — never published, never sold, never used to train anything.
Dreams is for entertainment and personal reflection. Interpretations are not medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, and they do not predict the future. If a dream leaves you distressed, speak to a doctor or a mental health service; in an emergency call your local emergency number. Full wording in the Terms of Use.
Your entries
Entries are stored in Google Cloud Firestore under an account identifier, with a copy cached on your device for offline use. This happens even if you never sign in — the app creates an anonymous cloud account tied to that installation, so entries are not device-only, and deleting the app without signing in first loses the way back to them.
We do not read entries as a matter of course; we can reach them through our Google Cloud tools, and do so only to fix a fault, answer your support request, or where the law requires it. The symbol dictionary ships inside the app and is searched on your device — tapping a word sends nothing anywhere.
AI analysis
When you ask for an interpretation or title suggestions, the text of that one entry — plus the lunar day calculated for that night — goes to Google's Gemini models via Firebase AI (processed in the United States). Nothing is sent otherwise, and no other entry is included. Please do not write details about other identifiable people into an entry you intend to send for analysis.
What else we hold
- Account — an account identifier; plus an email address and name if you sign in with Apple or Google and allow it. We never receive your password.
- Feedback — if you use the in-app feedback card or email us: your message, account identifier, app version, platform and language.
- Diagnostics — usage statistics and crash reports (device model, OS version, stack trace). Never the text of your dreams.
- Notifications — a device token, if you allow them.
Services we use
Firebase (authentication, Firestore, AI, messaging, crash reports, App Check), Google Analytics for Firebase, Google AdMob and Apple (sign-in and in-app purchases; we never see your payment details). Their processing is governed by their own policies. Data is processed on Google and Apple infrastructure, including in the United States, under the transfer safeguards those providers publish.
Ads and tracking
The free version shows AdMob advertising; a subscription removes it. Where the law requires a choice (EEA, UK, Switzerland) Google's consent form appears on first launch, and Apple's tracking prompt follows — decline it and the advertising identifier is not used to track you. You can change both later in the app's privacy options and in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
We do not sell personal information for money. Personalised advertising may still count as "sharing" or "targeted advertising" under some US state laws — declining the tracking prompt, or subscribing, opts you out.
Legal bases (EEA and UK)
Contract — storing and syncing entries, your account, interpretations you request, subscriptions. Consent — personalised advertising and notifications, withdrawable at any time. Legitimate interests — security, crash diagnosis, aggregate usage. Legal obligation — where we must.
Your rights and how long we keep things
You can delete any entry in the app. For a copy of your data, a correction, deletion of your account, or anything else, write to developmentree@gmail.com and say which account it concerns; we aim to answer within a month. In the EEA and UK you also have data portability and the right to complain to your data protection authority; in US states with a privacy law, the equivalent rights to know, delete, correct and opt out.
If you have never signed in, an anonymous account carries no email or name, so we usually cannot verify it is yours — open the app on that installation and sign in with Apple or Google, which attaches the entries to an account we can identify. If the installation is gone, we generally cannot find or delete those entries.
Entries are kept until you delete them or delete your account — deleting the app does not delete them, and deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Analytics and crash data expire on Google's schedules; backups may hold copies briefly after deletion.
Children and changes
Dreams is not directed at children: you must be at least 13, or older where local law requires it (16 in parts of the EEA). Tell us if a child has provided data and we will delete it. The date at the top is the current version, and material changes are brought to your attention in the app before they take effect.
